A Manhattan contains:
2 oz rye whiskey
1/2 oz sweet vermouth
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
maraschino cherry for garnish
Mr. Turtle is correct. It isn't a Manhattan without bitters. And it's called a cocktail glass, not a Martini glass. ;) Also, the garnish can be a cherry or a lemon twist.
Bourbon, sweet vermouth and cherry juice (optional, but good), served chilled in a Martini glass.
