You must be referring to mineral spirits. This is used as a paint thinner for enamel based paints. Home Depot, Lowe's, Wally World, any place that sells paint. Use with caution, and adequate ventilation.
spirits are usually the essense of the dead that were attached to something on the mortal plane so they can't move on to heaven. to find some you would usually go to a place where a person has died and sometimes you can hear their soul roaming around the area
