What's the difference between good quality alcohol and bad quality alcohol?!

Question: What's the difference between good quality alcohol and bad quality alcohol?
Why are some spirits oily and have a more subtle, pleasant taste and some have a watery, pungent, unpleasant taste?
Aren't they basically ethanol + water? What's the chemical difference between "good" and "bad" alcohol?
Is it purity? Or something else?

Answers:

good qual alcohol costs more, is more refined and you can feel it in the taste, doesnt get you sick and will give you an amazingly relaxed feeling.

First of all, taste is subjective. What some find unpleasant others find yummy (sorry for the technical terms there).
Certainly in the hands of an expert, malt, grapes, potatoes, grain, what have you, can be crafted into different taste profiles depending the amount of care taken.

Alcohol is alcohol. It is how it is made that determines the quality and taste.

il n'y a pas de bon ou de mauvais alcool, c'est le degres qui compte
