Lighter is prohibited by most air stations, it's better not take lighter on plane. And you can take some cigarettes on plane, but not exceed the quantity limitation.

Yes, you can bring them on your carry on luggage. ( but you cannot put the lighter in checked luggage). The cigarettes have no regulations in regard to airline safety

Here is the link from the TSA that specifically says that you CAN bring abord a disposable lighter. In fact, you CANNOT check a disposable lighter because of concerns that the lighter will ignite in the checked luggage and cause a fire.

The 1st poster has out of date info. The laws were changed a few years ago to permit disposable lighters (as the TSA link above indicates).

I am a consultant and fly on a weekly basis

Your best bet would be to call the airline and ask them. I do know you cannot bring a lighter on the plane. As far as cigarettes and your age, it's best to ask before making a mistake that could land you in trouble with the TSA or your parents.

cigs yes. not to sure about the current regulations on the lighters, but when i still smoked cigs, i could always go through security with them. but that was 3 months ago. you should still be able to. worst that will happen is they have you throw away the lighter.

The lighter won't work, however matches will pass. Only still one problem: security randomly checks 1 out of every 10 carry on bags, so you'll be taking a small chance. Good luck man, by the way you'll love the DR!

Not the lighter.. When I fly, I carry book matches..

Why are you posting this on the Alcohol Board?

in your checked bags
