Perhaps it's what you are mixing it with. Soda goes well with booze but is horrible for you. While alcohol thins your blood, the carbon dioxide in soda opens up your blood vessels ensuring that the booze flows at a faster rate. Try pouring your shots into a glass of water. I know it sounds bad, but it works. This lowers your sugar intake. Notice that the old drunk doesn't use soda as a chaser. Try not mixing your alcohol, this is the best way to find out what does and doesn't make you sick. Lastly, slow down. Wait ten or fifteen minutes before having another drink. Between your drinks have a glass of water and a snack.

Age and experience

if you drink in moderation, theres no reason you should puke at all. but as we all know, nobody likes to drink on moderation, because obviously thats no fun. most of the time it will depend on personal tastes and what youre body can handle. i personally can drink whiskey and tequila like water, but i will not even touch vodka because even small amounts seem to make me throw up, though i can tolerate some flavored vodkas like smirnoff dragonberry. i also enjoy captain morgan lime bite. it has a flavor other than just the alcohol, but its not overpowering. jack and coke(whiskey and a cola drink) is good. white russians are also a good mixed drink suggestion, the kaluha has a nice cream texture/taste. i would suggest trying out different types of alcohol or different mixed drink types on separate nights of drinking and see what works best for you.

my personal alcoholism and experimentation

if you sip your drinks and have a bottle of water between each drink you should be fine. i like captain morgan original spiced rum mixed with coca cola. grey goose or smirnoff vodka is good with orange juice. Strawberry daquiris are really yummmmy too. as long as you dont chug them one after the other without water and food in your stomach then you should be ok. If you still get the spins then maybe your body just Cant handle alcohol.

All hard alcohol has the same proof, except for some higher proof kinds that will get you drunk even faster. If you're prone to puking, use less alcohol in your mixed drinks. Wine coolers have a low alcohol content and taste good.

Dark rum and oat whiskey are both easy on the stomach.
