I take an existential approach to the subject; there IS only now.

So... now is always the best time to consume spirits.

Drop the pints and pace yourself for the ride (consume less and at a slower pace) and you'll do fine.

Let your self go and have a better time going.

I have heard friends say before to not drink spirits like that after beer. Personally I haven't had a problem doing that.

One thing I do have a problem with though is not drinking water while drinking alcohol. I find that I get sick feeling after a few beers if I don't have any water. That sick feeling is even more intensified if I go for spirits instead of beer, without water first. If I do have water after those first few pints or so (I usually will put back a liter (quart) or so quite easily at that point) then the beer and spirits keep going down easy all night I find.

I think it is making you feel sick because you are not hydrated well before you start drinking. I can't see the time you choose to start drinking having anything to do with this unless you are outside sweating and drinking, which is just going to dehydrate you faster.
so just try drinking a lot of water during the day if you know you will be enjoying your spirits later that evening.

Whiskey

don't mix your spirits while you're having a pint
do one or the other

life lesson

*burp* anytime is fine

The best time is between 8AM and 5AM the following day. Loves me some good scotch
