Not unless they have your permission to do so, that wouls amount to 'assault', if they suspect that you are carrying drugs or an offensive weapon they are legally entitled to refuse you entry if you do not agree to the search.

I'm a former London Airport Security Guard and I had to ask a passengers permission before even searching their luggage let alone their person and they could have been carrying a bomb, of course if they refused they just didn't get past the checkpoint.

Yes they can but they will ask before doing so. If you refuse to let them search they probably will refuse you entry though.
