To the best of my knowledge, in Georgia you don't need to be licensed to bartend. You do, however, need experience. No one is going to hire you if you've never done it before.

It can be very good pay (over $400 per shift), but the hours for those kind of gigs are usually at least 12 hours long per shift. You need to get there 1-2 hours early to prep for the evening and stay 1-2 hours after closing to clean up. Bartending is very physically demanding; you're on your feet for long periods of time, you carry cases of booze, spirits and fruit, change/move kegs, etc. You need to be in pretty good shape to do it well.

I'd start of waitessing first, although any place good won't hire you for that if you don't have experience, either.

Hiring barstaff for 15 years.
