Am I going to have liver problems if I don't cut down on alcohol?!

Question: Am I going to have liver problems if I don't cut down on alcohol?
Someone on here told me that I drink too much and too often and that if I don't cut down I risk liver problems, she said that I drink too often I said I drink each weekend she says that is too often and tells me I should only drink on special occasions if I care about my health she said if I drink more often then just special occasions I risk damage to my health. She said most people don't need to drink every weekend and told me to only drink special occasions not every weekend she said I am putting my organs through unnessery strain if I am drinking every weekend especially if I am drinking entire bottles on the weekends she said I will definatelty put myself at risk for a lot of health problems down the road and possibly even premature death if I don't change how much and how often I drink now. She told me to stop drinking every weekend and to only drink on special occassions. However I do not want to listen to her cause she sounds extreme by telling me to only drink on special occassions and not to drink weekends. Most people drink on weekends and some get intoxicated so why should I listen to this lady?

Answers:

Actually depending on how much you drink you could die of liver problems, or become a wet head, which isn't what you want either. I suggest you do cut down on the weekends, and try not to do so much during the week, or just drink on the weekends. Also, it'd be nice if you exercised regularly, and drank loads and loads of water to clean the alcohol out of your system.

yes! YOU ARE!!!!!!!! STOP DRINKING OR YOU'LL END UP LIKE MICKEY MANTLE!! he drank ruined his liver, replaced it, then ruined it again by drinking, they wouldn't give him another one and he died

Yes you risking your health but you are also on the path of becoming an alcoholic.

just drink socially on weekends and you will be fine

Ok so you're young and don't want to stop drinking every weekend. I can understand that. You haven't yet learned how to have fun without getting drunk. You don't care if you're damaging your body now because you can't begin to imagine not having a healthy youthful body.
Consider this though...Heavy drinking affects more than just your liver. It can and has been linked to NON-reversible things like cancer ( mouth and throat) , chronic gastritis, anemia, impaired brain development, hepatitis, pancreatitis, depression, increased memory loss later in life, and an increased chance of type 2 diabetes. Short term effects of binge drinking (that IS what you're doing btw, drinking large amounts over a short period of time repeatedly) could include bad skin due to dehydration, hangovers, nausea, shakiness, memory loss, and increased chance of injury while drunk. You're also really vulnerable to making bad decisions when you've been drinking. Ever not remembered what you did the night before? Or who you did it with? Or why you actually did anything with someone you really didn't know? When you're drunk you really don't stop to think about using protection against STD's or pregnancy. When you're drunk you really don't think driving to get something to eat is such a big deal. When you're drunk your inhibitions are lowered to a point where everything seems fun and you don't realize the danger you're putting yourself in.
I know drinking seems great now, but all it takes is ONE bad thing to happen when you've been drinking - taking a ride home with someone you met just that night who winds up robbing you (or worse if you're a girl, raping you) , driving yourself after you've been drinking and getting into an accident (could you imagine how you'd feel if you killed someone while driving? a stranger or a friend riding with you??), having to tell a future love interest you have genital herpes because you got drunk one night and didn't use protection) - one little thing could change the whole rest of your life. Even if you only drink on weekends, you could still be an alcoholic.

Well she seems to have a biased position against alcohol. The medical facts bear out the fact that moderate drinking is better than no drinking. Weekends are good as your have time to concentrate on health during the week. You should always remember that drinking an entire bottle of twelve pack is not good but even once or twice a year will be of no major significance. I have been drinking for 20+ years and my doctor is well aware of my habits and my good health. Continue to educate yourself on the benefits of moderate drinking and enjoy yourself with no further concern. Currently the case for a long life is enhanced by drinking alcohol. Drinkers live longer lives than nondrinkers.

I must say that your question follows a common theme here on Yahoo Answers and seems to lack genuineness. Just an observation.
