Am I crazy for refusing to give up alcohol for the sakes of improving my health and possibly living longer?!

Question: Am I crazy for refusing to give up alcohol for the sakes of improving my health and possibly living longer?
I am almost 24 years old and I drink 3 bottles yes that's right "bottles" of wine, sweet cocktails or spirits every friday, saturday and sunday and someone told me (a poster on here by the name of SB) that I must be crazy if I can't give up alcohol for the sakes of my health. He said that I have a very serious problem if I choose alcohol over my health. He also asked me a question "so you'd rather die then to give up alcohol??" Is he right? I already have high cholesterol, high lipid levels and a variety of other issues and I want to have my life I do not want to die but I also do not want to live and not drink alcohol anymore. I don't want a life without alcohol. That kind of life would suck. But is there any possible way I can have both my life and the alcohol???

Answers:

So basically you want us to validate your unwavering opinion that alcohol is all that gives meaning to your life?

Fine. If you're so pathetic that booze is all you care about, please keep drinking. Drink more. Drink as much as you can, every time you get near alcohol. Drown in it. Die of it. Because everyone in your life will be better off without a selfish twit like you around, burdening them with your increasing health problems, not to mention whatever super-classy behaviour you engage in when soused.

Cheers! Drink up!

Life without alcohol doesn't 'suck'.
You think it sucks because you're too hooked on getting wasted than to have fun without alcohol.
You can't have the best of both worlds, and your I'm sure that your liver would prefer to commit suicide rather than deal with your binge drinking any longer.
You need to go to the AA to deal with your addiction, and just try different things for a change on your weekends (juice, water, sports, going to parties without binge drinking).

if your not going to do anything about it then don't worry because worrying does not help at all in fact the stress may actually worsen your conditions

Yeah it's called moderation

dont drink

He is very right you should not be drinking that much as it is very hard on your liver amongst other things. My fiancees grandmother is completely reliant on alcohol and at 70 years old she is in a bed all day long has no teeth and is in the worst health ever memory's gone bone mass(or muscle mass maybe both?) is gone etc etc. The biggest problem is that she is so reliant on it that they feel if they cut her off she will get worse since they fear she couldn't handle the sickness part of her not having the alcohol.

Very sad I don't know if the way they think is right but all I know is she is so helpless at such a young age my great great grandmother is in perfect health (she never drinks at all) at 87 believe it or it really takes a toll on you. How about cutting down to one night a week? Drink one bottle only? Go to AA meetings talk with some one! Find other things to do in my teen years I partied all the time now I don't enjoy drinking too many repercussions that come with it ya know including your life and others.... I hope you find something that works and benefits you!
