Are they ever going to lower the drinking age?!

Question: Are they ever going to lower the drinking age?
Is there anything going on in the government that may cause the drinking age to lower or is it pretty m much in the dark?

Answers:

No. with all the crap going on in politics this would be such a non-issue and if they had their way it would not even be discussed unless it was to raise the drinking age.

most likely not. for one thing, the highest number of people who vote are older people so even if it gets on the ballet those people who are 18-20 don't vote, and those 21-25 don't care any more to lower it and they don't vote either (at least these age groups don't vote nearly as much as the older people).
another reason it likely won't ever get lowered is young people in America aren't as responsible as young people in Europe (where the drinking age is typically lower)

No, because states will lose their Federal highway funds if they lower their drinking age below 21, a law passed during the Reagan Administration. Even Hawaii receives highway funds for their main island.

Second, advocacy groups and drunk driving victims, would hit the media airways with sad stories and statistics, saying how 21 is a safer minimum than 18.

No, it used to be 19 for all alcohol in some states and 18 for 3.2 beer. It will never go back to that. Ever.

I sure hope not. Most of the underage (and even a lot of "of age") drinkers I've seen don't know how to handle their liquor.

No it used to be lower but the death rate was higher for alcohol related deaths so it won't go back.

most older people cannot handle there alcohol, so probably not such a good idea

No
