Question: Do scotch whiskey expire?

Chivas Regal 12 years old, purchased in 1982.Forgotten in the closet, not yet opened until now.

If the top is on it and air can't get in it, it will last a 100 years, the same gos for any liquor with an alcoholic content of 40%abv (80 Proof), alcohol is a wonderful preservative, I'm nearly 69 just to prove it!!!

It is ok if it's not opened, unless it's stored in a really warm area. If it's open, the quality goes down, but it's still fine to drink it.

No. It will be just fine. Any type of whiskey, scotch or bourbon does not expire because of the high alcohol content so drink up!!!
