Why do you think you have liver damage? If a doctor told you then he would have also given you treatment options. Drinking is not the leading cause of liver damage. It is only a contributing factor. And then only in those who are already prone to liver disease.

Cirrhosis, or death of liver tissue is caused by Fatty Liver Disease. Alcohol can contribute to that, IF you are already predisposed. Alcohol consumption in and of itself does not cause liver disease.

The belief that drinking caused liver disease is a common fallacy. It falls under and Ad Hoc, or Faulty Causation. Is it one of the many alcohol myths I see perpetrated on Yahoo Answers. Quite simply alcohol does not cause liver disease any more then filling a car with gasoline causes an accident.

If you drink enough to cause liver damage, then there is nothing short of you to stop drinking alcohol that is going to help you. There is no magic pills or herbs or any number of other "miracle" things on the market that say they fix all your liver problems that will work. Since alcohol is like a poison to the liver, and drinking like you do often does cause liver problems in the long run, the best thing you can do is to take away the poison that is destroying it. If you stop drinking in the early stage of liver disease, your liver can heal and you will be fine. But once it gets to a certain point of being severely damaged with scar tissue (cirrhosis), then nothing stops the disease from progressing to total liver failure.

Regarding the one answer where a person said alcoholism does not cause liver disease, I would like to take him to my transplant center on clinic day so he can talk to a few alcoholics there trying to get transplants. I think they would change his mind.

You can use a supplement like CTD Labs Liver Armor: http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/viewi…

If it gets really bad, you can get a transplant. Liver transplants happen to be one of the easiest transplants to get since the donor doesn't actually have to give up their liver (only about half of it, which grows back in a matter of months). Of course, there is a lot of risk involved, and if you don't like the 5% fatality rate then you should avoid such extensive liver damage.

Make sure you drink a lot of water too.

try some active charcoal! hospitals use it all the time for poisonings and stuff.. if u got poison in your body, lets say you drunk a lot of alcohol. what that does is, it makes a lot of extra poisons free in your body. if you want to get rid of those and fasten up the healing proses, I recommend you start to drink active charcoal. Look in professional drug stores or on the net for more info. (make sure its ACTIVE charcoal) BTW this doesn't mean u can go on with drinking. U should stop that!! :D

There is now way I know to avoid the damage. If you abuse your liver, unfortunately it will become damaged, and it won't be able to be repaired.

None

Yes, it's caled you must stay away from it for ages if you wish to allow your liver to recupperate. If you know you drink a lot then maybe you need to cut down a lot? good luck.

Only way to ward it off is drink less... or not at all.

If you drink in excess, you will damage it... and damage is irreversable.

Google these for more information on how they help against liver damage:
Liver Detox!

Milk thistle
Raw Food Diet (vegan)

People even say coffee helps :)

Alcohol is safe in moderation and I agree with Troxbit the rest are idiots.
