Can I make regular vodka vanilla flavored?!

Question: Can I make regular vodka vanilla flavored?
I happened to buy practically one of the last Skyy Vanilla bottles in the BevMo chain. It is running out and I am very disappointed that they don't make it anymore. I don't care for the taste of smirnoff. A friend told me that I could drop a whole vanilla bean in a bottle of plain vodka and let it sit a few days. Is this true and also, how long should it sit and how do I get it out once it's done?

Answers:

Don't just drop in a vanilla bean. Cut the vanilla bean open, scrape out the seeds and add the seeds to your vodka. Leave them in at least 24 to 48 hours. The longer you leave the seeds in the vodka, the stronger the vanilla flavor. If you don't want to leave the seeds in the bottle, you can strain the vodka before you use it. But leaving the seeds in won't hurt the vodka. And ingesting the seeds won't hurt you.

Just leave it in there pour drinks with it in or add vanilla essence to it not too much though add it slowley and taste it before adding more
