Advice for a first time alcohol drinker?!

Question: Advice for a first time alcohol drinker?
I'm going to Orlando with the family and my boyfriend this summer.
I've never drank alcohol before, but by then I'll be 21 and figure I might feel like having a drink.

I don't want to get drunk and I know that first time drinkers get drunk more easily. So any advice on what to try and what to stay away from?

make sure you eat something first. don't mix drinks, stay with one thing. stay away from really sweet
drinks. you tend to drink more of those than ones that don't taste as good. after your drunk, everything
tastes good though. go with people who will let you know when you have had enough, if you can't tell.

Eat before you drink. Stick with the simple restaurant-type drinks, like Daquiris and Margaritas. Don't let anybody tell you that you HAVE to try THEIR choices of drinks. They just may want to see how fast you fall to the floor after drinking stuff like, Long Island Iced Teas. Always ask the ingredients before trying a new drink and use your best judgment.

Do Not Mix Liquor And Beer!
No one told me this. And its NOT a myth.
Try something simple like UV Blue and Lemonade. Cranberry, Pineapple and Malibu Rum is pretty good. For females usually the drink of choice is Sex on the Beach. I'm more of a whiskey sour, jack and coke type. But thats reaaaally strong.
Have fun and don't drink TOO much you're first time :)

No Long Islands, no AMFs, and don't do shots. Girls TYPICALLY don't like beer at first, but that or a glass of wine would be the best. Try something simple like a Vodka Cran, Rum & Coke, or maybe a fruity martini. They tend to be pretty mellow and won't get you in too much trouble.

stay away from shots.
stick to fruity drinks... margarita, daiquiri, pina colada, strawberry sunrise.
maybe try a martini... apple, lemon drop
or just have a beer.

happy 21st birthday !!

ask you parents 2 try something with lemonade. ie a bit of beer/lager or a drop of wine always makes sure at least 1 parent is with you in case you have a reaction otherwise all should be fine

Stay away from "ICE beers" and "Barley wines" very high strength stick with light beers with lower alcohol
