Bringing Absinthe to the USA?!

Absinthe is legal in the USA but still subject to certain regulations. These are listed here:

Technically you could get challenged by US customs either for the product itself or for the packaging if it doesn't comply with US guidelines:

"The term “absinthe” cannot be the brand name; the term “absinthe” cannot
stand alone on the label; and the artwork and/or graphics cannot project images of hallucinogenic, psychotropic or mind-altering effects."

In practice, confiscation does not seem to happen nowadays since the US re-legalisation of absinthe in 2007. Many fine Swiss and French absinthes are available in the US now, so you don't need to rely on travelling to Europe to find it.

It's legal in the states now. Make sure you try what you buy in Europe. 90+% will not have the "effect"
