What does it take to be a bartender?!

Question: What does it take to be a bartender?
I need to make money. I know a lot about alcohol and making mixed drinks. I'm a fast worker and I have a good memory. I'm in college, and need help paying for expenses; so how can I be a bartender? Is there a certificate? And how do I get one? Who do I talk to? What sort of training do I need? I know it's hard work but it makes great money (for a college kid). I think I'd be very good at it.

I'm living in Sarasota, FL, by the way.

You need a liquor license for starters...

Then, since you are barely starting, you could look for classes in you area or find a bar willing to train ya!

in florida you have to be 18 to bar tend

as for qualifications... most areas require you to go through a responsible server certification course, but if this is the case, your employer will tell you about it and usually pay for it.

you won't get hired as a bar tender with no experience, you will be hired as a server or bar back (bar tender assistant)... and be given more responsiblelity as you gain experience.
