Jameson is a sipping whiskey that is meant to be sipped straight

I keep a bottle in the fridge to avoid needing ice.

As you get older (like 55+), you can add water, ginger ale, Sprite, or 7UP.

I'm 67 and I still sip it straight, but the old geezers with with whom I play poker,
need to mix it.

A good whiskey (like Jameson) shouldn't be mixed with anything except perhaps a small amount of water. You can drink it over ice or just "straight up".
