Irish whiskey questions?!
I've pretty much zeroed in on a favorite bourbon. I've found some scotches that please me (but that's such an incredibly broad category). Anybody familiar with the Irish?
I didn't want to get the cheapest for fear it would chase me out of the category. I was afraid of starting with a single malt because I didn't know how representative it would be. So, for my first purchase, I tried a Jameson (blended) Special Reserve 12-year old. Very nice.
How does it compare against the standard, and what should I be looking at next?

bushmills 16 year is really good. Welcome to the irish
There are only 4 distilleries in Ireland, so your choices aren't as challenging as with Bourbon or Scotch, who have hundreds of distilleries.
Personally, I'm a fan of Knappogue Castle, which is from Bushmills Distillery. I also like Bushmills Black Bush and Jameson Gold.
I'm not really an Irish Whiskey drinker but if I do I normally go for Bushmills.
