It is a relatively unheard of drug. Measures are being taken to make it illegal.

Salvia is legal because it was relatively unheard of back when they were banning things left and right, researchers did a good job keeping salvia on the down low from the 50's to the 90's.

marijuana is illegal because there was political back reasons to make it illegal (i.e.- Nixon needed something to arrest hippies over, since they weren't committing any crimes, so he made marijuana and several other drugs that were being passed around hippy circles, so he could arrest them and shut them up.

Salvia has very little in common with LSD in terms of Experience, Salvia's lasts 10 minutes, LSD's lasts 10 hours, Salvia's are more structured images, LSD's are more unstructured and random, which can mess with your mind, Salvia provides an hour of being high afterwards to wean you back into reality so thee is no shock, LSD drops you all 8 miles suddenly, and let's you hit the ground full force, which can be so shocking that it can cause mental instability, Salvia doesn't last long enough to move from a safe place for using it like a bedroom to an unsafe place like a street, and is so powerful when being in the street would be dangerous, that it is unlikely they would be able to even find a door, let alone open one and do it again to go outside, LSD, not necessarily, plus thetime it takes for LSD to kick in, they could make their way out there before it happens, salvia, not a chance, and, LSD can cause flashbacks and perminent psychosis, no such cases are documented nor does the scientific research support that either are true with salvia.

The mainstream compares salvia with LSD because most of the mainstream is owned (yes, the news IS private enterprize) by people with conservative, anti-drug bias's, and therefore taking an originally neutral thing in the public eye, and comparing it with something publically veiwed as dangerous, you can shape public opinion to veiw the neutral thing as dangerous and bad, without having any real facts about it to go on, and therefore, shape the public to side with them

speaking from 1sthand experience( 80x) salvia in my opinion is legal is because the high is so short that by the time you can do something stupid, your high is gone. salvia is nowhere near as hallucinogenic as LSD, on lsd you dont know where you are and you are having extreme hallucinations, this is lsd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_KPkKSBpys

It takes an act of congress, literally, at the state or national level to make anything illegal. And we all know how long that could take, but they are working on it.

Been all over the news

Becaus salvia is an insent I think. It was not ment to be smoked
its not a drug thats y it doesent show up on drug tests
people just use it as a drug

I just heard on the news that CA is voting to make salvia illegal.
