How can i get started with brewing my own Beer at home?!
Answers:
- Get a copy of John Palmer's "How To Brew" this will give you all the information you'll need to get started.
- At a bare minimum you'll need a fermenter with airlock, a 5+ gallon kettle, bottling or kegging equipment, PBW (cleanser), and StarSan (sanitizer). Many homebrew shops (both online and brick-and-morter) sell a starter kit which will have all this equipment.
- Start with a recipe for "Extract" brewing. This will use a combination of dry and liquid malt extract, hops, and yeast. Eventually you may want to move up to "All-Grain" recipes, but wait until you've perfected your process.
- Pay very close attention to sanitation. It is the most important thing you can do to make good beer.
Relax and Have Fun. It's a great hobby!
I'm all in favor of "bruddah_chrispy's" answer other than preferring Papazian's book The New Complete Joy of Home Brewing. Read the first 40 or so pages, pick an all-extract ale recipe, figure out what you need and order it. http://byo.com will help you find a place to buy.
