I'm a recovered alcoholic in my 5th year of sobriety thanks to AA, I now work in a drug/alcohol rehab clinic and attend meetings of AA, CA and NA, on average around four a week.
Providing the intoxicated person didn't create a disturbance and showed some sort of willingness to get better they would be made most welcome and given as much support and encouragement to 'keep coming back', this is the whole ethos of these groups.
Even if someone came in to create a disturbance, they would not be 'kicked' out but requested to leave with as much compassion as possible.
I've seen many people who are now fully recovered, start their journey in this way.
EDIT: If you read my answer H, you will notice that I go to these meetings regularly and you are right in saying that it sometimes happens, I've seen it happen, but I reiterate they are not 'kicked' out, we try and help people in AA, CA and NA, even if they are unruly.
Depends on the organization but it shows a lack of commitment from that person.
Those groups want to help ppl get sober - not make a joke of what they stand for.
I mean .. would you go to a Catholic church wearing a vail, humming like Buddha?
If they were being unruly, they would be kicked out. Otherwise they would likely be allowed to participate. After all, what do you think those groups are made up of? People trying to quit...the occasional drunk WILL show up!
Funny story, this happened to my wife and I in college.
I managed to play it off cool, I didn't get caught. She couldn't stop laughing, she got booked.
What happened to her?
I still don't know to this day.
Nothing at all will happen. I'll let you know if I ever attend a meeting, lmfao.
Funny concept
Lol Oh my god they would probally have you do community service or something......... Lmao
