Is having two beers and driving a bad idea?!

Question: Is having two beers and driving a bad idea?
My girlfriend gets mad at me for going to the bar a few times week, having a couple of drinks with my boys and driving back home. It's only a 5-10 minute drive (depending on traffic). I don't feel anything after two beers. Why is she making such a big deal about it?

Depends on your weight and the time frame, but you are probably okay.

While you may not feel anything after two beers, if you drank them closer than an hour apart, your BAC could still be above the legal limit. While that doesn't mean you are going to careen out of control and murder a bunch of people, you could still get arrested, license suspended etc... if you were ever to be pulled over.

And I *am* a "rather safe than sorry" person. It all depends on what you've eaten during the day, your stress level (if you are stressed/blood pressure is up your BAC will rise higher faster) so if you go the bar to unwind, then it actually could be a bad thing in the long run. Especially when you start thinking "2 isn't bad at all, why not 3?" etc...

to put her at ease and get her to stop bothering you about it you can buy a cheap breathalyzer to make sure your always under the limit and if she wants (assuming you live together) blow into it when you get home to show your not too drunk to drive. two beers is definitely not too much to drive with. check amazon they have em pretty cheap and they are fun for parties haha

bought a cheap breathalyzer to play with when i'm drunk and thought it would help in your situation.

Two beers is not enough to affect most guys. I've had as many as five and driven home safely (though that probably was not a good idea).

There is something to be said for her caution because you certainly do not want a DUI. In the words of one of my acquaintances, "it was the most awful experience of my life". It cost him thousands of dollars in fines, increased insurance prices, legal fees, DUI class, etc- all for a first offense of any kind.

Yes, 2 beers and getting behind the wheel is a bad idea, all the rationalization in the world is not going to change it

just take em and jump out of a plane on the runway

Well, she probably thinks 'better safe than sorry' but 2 beers should be safe for driving...

Two beers would not effect most men.
