How do you open a bottle of wine with a dollar store cork screw?!

Question: How do you open a bottle of wine with a dollar store cork screw?
It's just the screw and a handle and I do not have the strength to just pull the cork out. How do I get it open?

You just have to wiggle it back and forth and wrench on it til either the cork breaks or the screw does. If it does break then just take a knife and stab the cork down into the bottle. Kind of sucks for the wine, but it'll get it out of there

Work at a hotel that refuses to buy anything other than dollar store cork screws.

1) Make sure the cork is wet. If it's not, lay the bottle on its side for at least a few hours. (Wine should be stored lying down, not standing up. The cork lets air into the bottle if it dries out. That oxidizes the wine, and you might as well pour it down the drain.)

2) This is hard to explain in words, but you want to use the handle as a lever, and the edge of the bottle neck as a fulcrum, and press the handle down, forcing the cork up. You may need to put a little block of wood on the neck edge, under the handle, to get the right angle, but if you run the screw all the way down into the cork it should be pretty easy.

You'll probably try a couple more times, ruin the cork, and have bits of cork floating in your wine. Then you'll invest in a decent wine bottle opener. Unless it's a good bottle of wine I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Pull harder.

You must pull it straight out and very slowly. If you can't then find someone who can. Don't break the cork.

hit the bottle in the neck with a hammer, then make sure you finish it today
