Question: Why do they serve all that champagne at the Awards shows?

I wonder if they really sit there and drink that champagne on the table? Aren't they a little tipsy if they're called to the stage to receive an award? Just how expensive is that champagne anyway.....I think I saw Moet on the table......geez
