How Long Does Opened Champagne Last?!

Question: How Long Does Opened Champagne Last?
I'm not interested in the bubbles, I know they go away after 3 days of being opened or whatever. But I'm worried about it "spoiling" and getting food poisoning or something. How long does it take *from the day it's opened* to spoil?

Once it has been opened, it turns to vinegar within a week and is only good for cooking.
A open bottle of champagne should only last at the most 20 minutes anyway!!!!!!!!

If you store the champagne in the fridge, you will not get food poisoning. The only thing that will happen is, it will lose the fizz and go flat. If you don't mind "flat" champers, it will be fine to drink.

Here's an unproven tip you might want to try: Set a silver spoon, stem side down, into an open bottle of champagne. This should keep the sparkle alive for a day or two in your refrigerator.

Otherwise, make Granita - this easy to make frozen dessert combines champagne with simple syrup ( equal parts sugar and boiling water to dissolve ). Simply combine together and freeze for later use.

OR pour it into ice-trays & freeze. Once frozen, repack in ziplock bags and add a block or two into
seafood, risotto, chicken, creamy sauces etc as a substitute for white wine.

It's not a simple question, as it depends on the condition of the wine prior to opening, what happens to it in between being poured then put wherever you're storing it, the storage conditions of course can contribute.

If it's a young vintage or recently bottled NV wine, chances are it's still high in acid. Champagnes usually have much higher acidity than table wines and as such will remain drinkable longer once opened. The loss of the spritz is inevitable, but provided the base wine was sound before it was opened I'd imagine it'd be well & truly drinkable for the best part of a week, perhaps beyond.

Most wine lasts about 5 days before going bad.

As long as you seal it with another cork, it should be OK for that long. Otherwise it would only last about 2 days.

If you keep it sealed completely air tight it'll last.
