There are two approaches you could take...

1. Try some of the different beers offered by the MegaBreweries. The are all basically a version of American Pilsner (aka Yellow American Fizzy Beer). At some point you'll acquire some favorites based upon minor taste differences or commercials which feature breasts. Or you'll decide that you don't like 'beer' when in reality you don't like that one style. If you're on a tight budget and your goal is to get drunk cheaply, this is probably the way to go.

2. Try some different *styles* of beer. This will take a little more research and probably a little more money but the end result is more rewarding. Take a look at the websites that describe the different styles of beer and see which sound tasty. If there is a microbrewery/brewpub near you, visit it and ask about the different styles - they'll often have sampler trays that explain the differences. If nothing else, the people working there will have a better understanding of the styles than your average bartender. This approach can lead to a lifelong appreciation of some really delicious brew.

Ok there are a couple styles that you should look for American Brown Ale, American Pale Wheat Ale, American Pale Ale, American Porter (this is darker but that is a good thing), and Hefeweizen

a couple examples for each style:
American Brown Ale = Indian Brown Ale by Dogfish Head
American Pale Ale = 312 by Goose Island, Dream Weaver Wheat by Troegs, and Bell's Oberon Ale
American Pale Ale = Sierra Pale Ale and Stone Pale Ale
American Porter = Stone Smoked Porter and Mocha Porter by Rouge brewery
Hefeweizen = Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier

All of the beers I listed are distributed across the country and should be easy to find at a good beer store. The website I provided below is a great source for any thing you want to know about micro/craft beer.

Cheers

I would personally recommend something that doesnt have too high alcohol content and is not too strong taste. A lot of people like Hefeweisen at first (although I dont). Pacifico would be a good choice. I think a wheat beer.

Old fashioned pilsner. It's smooth and I find it better than other brands such as kokanee and coors.

pilsner,right.
