Do i have a problem with drink?!

Question: Do i have a problem with drink?
Ive drank heavily for 2 years every weekend (fri, sat, sometimes sunday), now im 19 ive been trying to cut down. But my friends are a massive influence and i just can't help myself. I feel i can't be myself around people unless ive had a drink. I don't know what to do, im scared for my health and what people think of me. I try and tell my bestfriend that i want to stop drinking as ive realised theres no point in it, but he just laughes at me.

Well, the first "red flag" is that you're actually asking this question.
The second one is that "I feel i can't be myself around people unless ive had a drink.".
The third is "im scared for my health and what people think of me."
Scared of your health.
Scared of what people think of you. When people are in the corner laughing , are they laughing At you?
The real question is, do you THINK they are? If so, this is "self-centeredness"(aka Egocentrism) The main problem of alcoholics. Alcohol takes away our fears and "allows" us to be "the real us". In realty, it makes us be who it WANTS us to be.
"Dr, Jerkyl and Mr. Hyde" is about an alcoholic. The "mixed potion" is nothing more than a mixed drink. "Mean drunk"? Read the story.
If you think that you really think that you have a problem, I hope that you decide to work toward the solution.
Recovery is NOT for people who need it. Recovery is for people who WANT it. Good luck in all you do and may God bless.

You've got to start being your own person. I'm 20, I do not drink, maybe the occasional beer, I also realise there is no point. Some people do not understand, and if they are not willing to accept ur own decisions about ur own alcohol consumption, then maybe they the friends u thought they were. Do u wot u feel is right, and stay away from those who try to get you off track.

If your 'best friend' (what are you, 12?) laughs at you when you tell them you have a drinking problem, you need to find a new one. That's no friend. No way. Take it from a 35 year old alcoholic- stop NOW, before you're as addicted as I am. My health suffers, and I am 15 pounds overweight from drinking. It SUCKS.

it is deff a start of a big problem. Most people that suffer from alcoholism dont even know they have a problem. i would deff try not to do it every weekened, maybe once a month. Alcohol offer time destroys one liver, and other vital organs.

its a problem when it controls you. do you depend on drinking? if you think you drink too much cut back.
