A HALF CARAFE of wine equals how many glasses?!

Question: A HALF CARAFE of wine equals how many glasses?
I have heard that a half carafe of wine is the same as "3 glasses." Is this true?

(Also, how many ounces are there generally in a half carafe?)

A bottle of wine is 750ml or just about 25 oz. A typical glass of wine is 5 oz, so you would get 5 glasses of wine out of a bottle.

There aren't any hard and fast rules for a carafe, but usually a full carafe is actually a liter (so more than a bottle of wine) and a half carafe is a half liter. A full liter is about 34 oz or almost 7 glasses of wine, so a half carafe would put you at about 17 oz - just over 3 glasses.

That would be a pretty good estimate if you are talking average wine glasses. Some places serve carafes on the smaller side so that would be close to 2 nearly full average wine glasses.
