Can a liquor store legally refuse to sell me alcohol?!

Question: Can a liquor store legally refuse to sell me alcohol?
I live in Wisconsin. I am 23 and my boyfriend just turned 24 and his license expired yesterday. We went to buy liquor and they refused to sell it to me because his license was expired. Can I go outside and go back in alone or can they still refuse me because of that...even though my boyfriend is not in the store anymore and my license is valid?

They can refuse to serve you whenever they want to

Why didn't you pull your ID out and pay for it in the first place. lol. And You could have bought it with him standing right there. lol. the only reason I can think of that they wont sell is if your trashed already. Most places don't want to sell to a person drunk already. Your fine. go buy your liquor. I just bought mine a few min ago. :D

Yes, they can refuse to sell you alcohol. There is no law giving you the right or entitlement to buy alcohol.

You are being refused because they have reason to believe you are going to furnish it to someone who is ineligible to buy alcohol on their own.

no legally they cant.
you are not your boyfriend, you are you.
the law is for an induvidual

however at discrection they can refuse to sell it to you.

1) You can be refused service if they deem you already intoxicated
2) You can be refused service anywhere at anytime as long as your civil rights are not violated, i.e. they aren't serving you because of your gender, religion, etc.

Yes they can still legally refuse you of they have seen you in the shop with him as they can think your buying it for him its staff training to refuse anyone buying for someone who has incorrect I D

What does his license being expired have to do with yours? Those people are seriously retarded. Find another liquor store.

They have every right to refuse you service. They are protecting themselves under ABC laws. Try a different store without your boyfriend there

I'm sure there is a sign up in there somewhere that says they reserve the right to refuse to sell liquor at will.

Don't worry everything will work out for you

You should be fine!
