underage smoking question?!

wow i didn't know there were consequences before reading everyones answers.
i went into buy 2 packs of cigs with my friend (im too young) and one was for me.
once we got into her car we were both smoking and a cop walked up to her car and said "do you know how old you have to be to buy cigarettes?"
my friend answered 19 and he just checked her ID and didnt say a word to me (i was 16 at the time)
and then he left.

It depends on the cop. If he's diligent, he will find out where you got cigarettes and bust them. He'd probably turn you over to your parents. If you are getting smokes from your mom and pop, don't fess up because the injustice system in it's infinite wisdom might decide to protect you from your own family by placing you in a foster home with scumbags who do that sort of thing for a living.

You don't want that. Oh, and quit smoking for christsake.

k the person with the "6 months in max security prison" answer is LYING!! all i have ever heard of and seen happen; and ALOT of my friends have got caught smoking somehow i never did lol; is they take you pack away and give you a smoking ticket. thats all. no prison or jail.

Don't get caught...And i tried smoking when I was 13, and i got really sick once so i stopped. You should stop too. And I don't think if you get caught anything serious will happen. I think whoever catches you will just turn you over to your parents and take your cigarettes.

get your pack taken away!..... and thats just a good cop, and bad cop will act like Elliot Ness and lock you up thinking he is helping the town or somthing!
