Ok I haven't read a correct answer yet here. Whatever the proof says on the bottle, cut that number in half and you get the percentage of alcohol. Example: 151 Bacardi is named that because ti's 151 proof which makes it a little bit over 75% alcohol. That's like grain alcohol and extremely high. 50 proof is 25% alcohol and so forth.

If you want to know how much is too much from a technical standpoint, then 1 oz. of alcohol = 1 drink = a shot of liquor (most kinds) = 1 12oz can of beer. They're all basically equal and if you find yourself getting a mean buzz after 3 or 4 beers then it's just like drinking 4 shots of tequila or vodka.

A nice amount for me anyway is about 40%, so like my favorite Tangueray Gin.
Malibu is nice but it's only like 20% or something.
I'm also a lightweight so that gin gets me tipsy off one glass mixed with orange juice.
You read the percentage on the bottle cover.

It all depends on your weight. For me (275 lbs, high tolerance naturally), I can drink 5 shots before I even feel buzzed. There are some skinny chicks out there who will pass out at 5 shots.

4 ounces

the percentage of alcohol is 50% of the proof

idk if thats what youre asking tho
