Why dont they change the law?? to 18?

Answers:

u can drink but jus nt on the streets

going to war at 18 has nothing to do with drinking.
driving at 18 has nothing to do with drinking.

its like saying "I'm pretty good at tying my shoe so why cant I get accepted to Harvard?"
or "I'm good at playing call of duty so why cant i drink alcohol at 18?"

They have nothing to do with each other.

But you're right they should change the law due to the fact that every other developed country has much less alcoholism and alcohol related deaths and their age restrictions are (generally) 18 and older.

and no due to your unlogical reasoning that 18 year olds can go into war and not drink.

To the guy above me: Of course they have to do with each other... not the act of each themselves but the responsibility they have. You are a legal adult at 18 allowing you to go to war and wager your life yet can't have the responsibility to drink.

But to answer your question: i have no idea why it isn't 18. The average drinking age is around 18 (generally LOWER), i know that most countries in europe are around 16 and have less traffic fatalities than the us

because its believed American Young adults aren't as mature as most other countries (who have a lower alcohol consumption age). The war point will always be a good point to why 18 year olds should be able to drink, but as long as old people continue to be the ones who vote (much higher % of old people vote compared to young adults) and young kids continue to do stupid things with alcohol and not drink responsibly the drinking age will continue to be 21

life

It used to be 18 in the united states, only for a few years, and the traffic fatality rate skyrocketed. So they bumped it back up to 21.
