question about liquor production?!

Question: Question about liquor production?
how come liquors like tequila and vodka are not made here in America, but are imported here? if there is nothing holding them back from manufacturing the liquors here, then they could add jobs here, cause we need jobs bad.

Answers:

"Temequila" is made in California. Its the same thing without the name.

tequila can be grown anywhere but in order to call it "100% tequila", blue agava plants needs to be grown in mexico in specific regions. Cabo wabo is tequila grown in California but is a blend of differant agava plants so it can only be called Tequila. just like Champagne is only made in the town of Champagne . they have the legal rights to.

i went to the Tequila tasting show here in toronto. last year.

the only place legally allowed to make tequila is the tequila region in mexico
same reason you can't make Scotch whiskey in America.... it has to be made in Scotland

there are many companies in the US that make vodka however.
