Answers:

You don't make french toast with sugar.
Beat a couple eggs, beat in some cinnamon, add a splash of vanilla, and a cup or so of milk.
Dip your bread in this mixture and then cook it on a griddle or in a frying pan. You can use Pam spray (or something of the like) to ensure it doesn't stick, but for better flavor use a pat of butter.
The sugar flavor you are probably used to comes from the toppings (syrup and sometimes powdered sugar).

Experience

You don't need sugar. I've been making French toast for about 50 years and have never put sugar in it. Besides, there'll be enough sugar after I put syrup on the toast after it's cooked.

...you don't (Need) sugar... (1)...bread. (2)...eggs. (3)...butter & some syrup or honey to slop over it after you cook it.

i make french toast all the time without sugar and i love it...

I like mine with tomato ketchup. (no sugar)
