Answers:

I am amazed at the previous answers!

If you left that bottle in your fridge for a long time, and then decided to open it and drink it, then yes it will still be good, but if you are removing it from the fridge and it will be brought back to room temp, by being in a basket, then made cold again before they drink it then NO it will not be good, it will most likely ferment. Wine has been known to turn to vinegar this way.

Please do not listen to the previous answers or someone will think you gave them a disgusting bottle of champagne. Just buy a new one for the basket and drink the one in the fridge. For future reference you shouldn't chill wine or champagne until you are ready to drink it.

Chef/Personal Experience

No. It will retain its effervescence until it's opened.

No. as long as it has not been opened.
