What exactly is Jagermeister?!

Question:

What exactly is Jagermeister?

I know it's alcohol and I've had it before and I know it's good lol. But what exactly is it? Is it whiskey? I don't think it's whiskey but that's just an example. Is it just it's own thing?

Answers: J?germeister is a 70-proof (35%) liqueur flavored with herbs. It is the flagship product of Mast-J?germeister AG, headquartered in Wolfenbüttel, south of Braunschweig, Germany.

J?germeister's recipe is kept secret but is speculated to be a blend of 56 herbs. Although licorice is a major component of its flavor, it is not as dominant in J?germeister as in true licorice-flavored liqueurs. It is a digestif spirit similar to other Central European stomach bitters, such as Gammel Dansk from Denmark, the Hungarian Unicum, or Czech Becherovka. In contrast to many such drinks, J?germeister has a sweet flavor. On tap, the drink is ideally served at 4°F (-15.5°C)

Cordials and Liqueurs are sweeter by volume. It is a German liqueur flavored with herbs. It isn't a whiskey or rum or anything like that. Nasty, but tasty if you like black licorice. It is definitely its own thing, nothing like it! Death in a green bottle.
