I just had my last smoke in a british pub. Anyone gonna miss it?!

Question:

I just had my last smoke in a british pub. Anyone gonna miss it?

Answers: Not personally. I am one of those horrible smug gits who has given up.

There is a kind of nostalgia about smoking and pubs though.
I was thinking about my Dad this morning and how he used to get through ten 'Weights' of a night when he went for a few pints of Courage Best!

Apart from that sort of nostalgia...I think in a few years we will all be ok with the ban. No one likes change at the point of change. You need to ask your friends this, not punters from round the world. Who's supposed to have expert advice on this? i think this law is brill i hope it will help me mum n twin sis give up lol no NO. I get sick of butts and ashes EVERYWHERE. Now maybe some other people can enjoy nice clean facilities.
And stop throwing your butts everywhere. Just look down sometime as you walk ANYWHERE, outside pubs, stores, the beach, the park. ANYWHERE Hooray! My wife (allergic to cigarette smoke) and I can finally go to a British pub for a beer with less fear of choking to death! No, don't go to pubs anymore.

But will miss smoking in my van, even though I'm the only one that ever uses it!

I think they have gone well over the top this time!!! No, but it kind of changes the character of the British Pub - as cozy smokey, beery little neighborhood haunts. Yes I did - I guess I must've been in a different pub. Sorry hi lindyloo, i live up in scotland and we,ve been missing it for a year and more the smoking ban has been here(ireland) for a long while now and it is actually much better, i am a smoker but i still prefer the pubs now without the smoke, especially places where there is food being served.
all pubs/nightclubs etc have smoking areas,
you smoke less too which is good too The Landlords. wow, everyone misses it in new york and the new england (massachussetts, rhode island, connecticut, etc.) area. i think that in california, the metro areas (san francisco, san diego, los angeles) felt it the most. eddie izzard said "pretty soon there'll be no drinking and no talking in bars, either"
that's a funny joke, but wtf? there are plenty of NON smokers who think that this is going too far. the state has gotten a little too nosy and pushy after the sept.11/july 7 attacks and using these events as an excuse to do so. in manhattan, you can't smoke within 5 feet (3.5 m) of the bar you're drinking in. it's about time they back the **** off. While I do feel for 'the smokers' out there, especially with the weather the way it is at the moment.

I can honestly say, no, I am not going to miss smoking in pubs, I can go out now and not have to worry about coming home smelling of smoke and having to wash all my clothes (including my bra) because of the stench.

I used to be a smoker and I am not 'having a go' but, it will be nice to be able to take the kids with us and not feel guilty about exposing them to smoke. I remember when you could smoke in grocery stores. You'll get used to it. no i hate smoke wont miss it at all

yes i am a boring non smoker Only you. Remember when people could smoke on airplanes, in supermarkets, and in the teacher's lounge at school? I figure everyone will get used to the idea of not smoking in public places soon enough.

Here in the states, it's been pretty much non-smoking for the past few years. My smoking friends don't seem to mind it too much, as they just wander farther away from the building they were in....doesn't seem to bother them a bit! Yes I think I will but I'm off for holidays in Greece this week,
I know they still smoke in the pubs ;)
