Question:

If I am 19 and from the US and I want to go to Canada to drink can I buy liquor or do I have to be a resident?

I am planning on going to Canada this month and am of the age in Canada. But I heard from a friend that even though I am of age I am not a resident so I can't get liquor there. Is this true?

Answers: Yes, you can.
But the number of deaths caused by drunkers in Canada is bad. Don't become one of them.
The MDA and MPA are 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, in all other provinces the MDA and MPA are set at 19. Drinking by minors under adult supervision is permitted in licensed premises in the provinces of Manitoba and New Brunswick and at home in Prince Edward Island, Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan. I AM CANADIAN No you do not have to be a resident to buy beer liquor or any alcoholic beverages. All you have to have is a valid piece of photo ID like a diver's license stating that you are 19 and you can drink anywhere in Canada. word. im 19 too and I went to canada on a ski trip, it was freaking awesome, panorama ski resort. a beautiful mountain. there were a few nights of drinking and it was freaking awesome partying with some canadian kids from the University of Calgary. all you need is an ID. A friend was telling me that they might change that though, that kids from the states might not be able to purchase because there not a canadian. wouldn't that stink eh? looking forward to next year.
