Answers: Port did originate in Portugal where there are many fine houses. But... there are many other countries throughout the world which also produce a product which we all refer to as port. Australia makes fantastic ports, mostly tawnies, but there are also fine ruby and vintage dated ports. (In Portugal, vintage ports are approximate in vintage, meaning if it says 10 yr tawny port, it's approximately 10 years, give or take...The finest Australian wine by far is called Penfolds, so I would start with their ports.
