I thought you could put beer in the freezer?!

Question:

I thought you could put beer in the freezer?

I noticed my buddy had a bunch of beers in his freezer. I figured they didn't freeze because of the alcohol. Then I put some guinness extra stout in my freezer, and when I went for a drink today there were all these frozen chunks and it was fizzing out when I opened it. I had it in there for about an hour. I thought beer didn't freeze?

Answers:

Beer will freeze dude it just has enough alcohol to lower its freeznig point just a few degrees. Not stop it from freezing all together .Also I have had on more than 1 occasion had beer blow up in my freezer causing a frozen foamy mess all over the inside covering everything.Whats worse is Since me living in Alaska Where it ges to -30 to -50 below zero .picture leaving a case in your car too long .( less than 1 hour / Splat).
One way to chill your brew super fast is use a cooler (do this in the bathtub if your inside) put beer in cooler ( in a bucket if thats what you have) Layer your beer with a layer of Ice covering the beer then another layer of bottles when halfway full sprinkle with 2 cups of reglar grocery store rocksalt the continue fillig to the top with the op being Ice add 3 cups of rocksalt to top then pouring water in at one corner add water until the water is just over the bottom layer of salt. top off Ice on top and close lid for 30 minuites and the ones un the very bottom under the water will be so cold they will freeze your teeth (you might want to rinse the saltater off too.
