Is red wine supposed to be served chilled or at room temperature?!

Question:

Is red wine supposed to be served chilled or at room temperature?

Or is it a personal preference? Could you please shed some light on this for me?

Answers:

Red wine should be drunk at room temperature, but this is typical EUROPEAN room temperature, about 60 deg F. If you live in a warm climate; especially with a hot summer, it is a mistake to drink the wine when it is too hot. A better rule is to drink the wine at cellar temperature, not room temperature. In a warm climate, it would be OK to chill the wine a bit; but not down to refrigerator temperature. However, in a warm climate you should try to keep your red wine cellared at no more than about 20 deg C (about 70 F), and it will be fine to drink it at this temperature. Don't let the wine warm up to room temperature if the room is much hotter than this.
