Not everybody drinks beer. Many people don't like the taste. Many find themselves allergic to hops, or to other ingredients. Many do not drink beer because it contains alcohol.
Some unfortunate souls, of course, drink to get plastered. They are losers who cannot stand to face their dreary lives.
On a hot summer day, a beer will quench thirst much better than water of the same temperature, because it has salt in it. Most other beverages contain sugar or artificial sweeteners, which make you even thirstier than before.
