Question:

I am alchol addicted, how can give it up.?

Answers:

Make sure to get medical assistance if you are both physically and psychologically addicted. Many times, alcoholics who have been chronic users go through an intense detoxification period that can include (besides the tremors, vomiting, etc expected) convulsions which can lead to death. Both my sister and my father were in hospital for the first step of recovery and given an array of drugs and IV to assist in the first phase.
If you have not been drinking large quantities daily, an AA program, inhouse or step down type program at a recovery facility are recommended. It is within these groups that you will find people who genuinely hope for your recovery and have experience on how to achieve it. The friendships built in these places give support throughout your life to help maintain sobriety.
Recovery is a lifetime. Alcoholism is a progressive disease: meaning that if you drink for 10 yrs, quit for 10, then go back to it, the disease will quickly progress to the point where you will be in the same shape as drinking for 20 yrs without stopping.
Eventually, you will get to a point where the compulsion itself is rarely, if ever felt, and you will find joy again in your family, friends, life itself.
