Should alcohol be banned from every where?!

Question:

Should alcohol be banned from every where?

Should alcohol be banned and drinking and advertising on television? Please give me your opinions.

Answers:

One point to mention is that banning things gives them a forbidden aspect, making them more attractive to some people. I think this is one reason prohibition failed so badly. People united in their quiet rebellion against the govornment in speak easy's and such.
I don't agree with banning for the most part. While I do think some things should be banned, like private ownership of ICBM's, banning goes against the idea of America being a free society to a society where no one gets hurt. Saving lives does have to be balanced with quality of life. How important is freedom compared with chaining us so we don't hurt ourselves? What are the positive affects of alchohol on our society? Everything is a double edged sword. Very few things can be described as "evil". To think of something as intrisically evil or bad is child-like thinking, but often used as a propaganda tool.
It may be a fallacy also to think that laws exist purely because they make sense. Like alchohol is a drug so it should be banned like other drugs. The "logic" is usually there to justify actions, not as the primary motivator for the actions. Kind of like the "logic" before the Iraq invasion. I think wether people want it or not has just as much to do with it. Politicians have their popularity to think about when making laws. And shouldn't the govornment be there to serve the people and what they want, not act like the overprotective mother/father, telling them what's good or bad for them? "You can't handle yourself so we need to handle you."
Banning alchohol will cause many people to stop while others will not. Now you've just made criminals out of more people who were not before. And, talk about giving a butt-load of money and new business to organized crime.
