Pot > Alcohol?

So, I drank 8 shots of whiskey the other day, and it was the first time I'd ever been totally wasted. The next day I threw up a bunch, felt shitty, and threw up some more. Would it be the same with pot? I'll probably try it anyway, but I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into.
