Funny ways to card for alchohol?!

Question:

Funny ways to card for alchohol?

i am just starting to waitress- and i want to find out funny ways to card people without offending

Answers:
i would just be professional and say that the restaurant policy requires everyone to be carded. would they please show you the identification . sorry for the inconvenience / hope you understand. i think people must understand that it is your job and the restaurants license at risk. i do think it's creative of you to try to think of funny ways to handle the situation though. shows a good personality / problem solving ability. maybe tell them the restaurant has a policy that everyone gets carded , so can they please pull out their autographed mug shot from the DMV. compliment the photo , no matter how bad they look .. hope it increases your tip :-) good luck to you.

What's in your wallet? Idk

well every waiter (waitress) i've had just always say 'you got your IDs' or 'can i check your ID'. never head a funny before...

Try "If you show me your ID, I will send some cute little thing over here with your drink order..." It works even if YOU are a cute little thing.

Just ask to see their I.D.

tell them they may have just won a prize but first need to see an i.d. or if it is a women say aren't you the one that just won ms america pageant when they say no tell them they will have to prove it by showing identification

In all my years as a bartender, I never joked about it. It may work for you, but I've found that you have to be really firm with people. There is no reason for a person to get offended for looking YOUNGER than they are. The rule is, if you look 30 or younger, you'd better be prepared to show your ID. I also worked briefly in an establishment that had a 100% carding policy--even if you are 80 and came in on a walker. If you want to lighten the situation, smile and say something like, "It's a compliment. You look so young. You should be thanking me."

I never heard a funny one myself. I would just take the orders and then say something like, alright i'll get right on those drink orders as soon as see your id's. never had a problem w/ someone getting offended.

"I just need to see your ID"

Trying to be funny can be offending to a lot of people because not everyone has the same sense of humor.

Most people over 21 (who don't look like Grandfather Time) do not get offended if you simply ask, "Could I please see your ID?" If you're really worried about offending, just being as polite as possible would go a lot further than trying to be funny. Add in some pleases and thank yous or even an "I'm sorry to bother you" here or there.

You'll only offend the kids under 21. Don't worry about it.

Just ask to see their ID. Don't try to be funny about it. Most people over age will just take it as a compliment. General rule of thumb - if they act like a-holes about it, they're probably underage anyway, and if they're not - you don't want a-holes like that drinking in your establishment anyway!!
