It depends - its nice to have expensive wine with a meal - the cheap stuff is fine for Friday night in front of the TV though!

Couldn't care less about the price - I like what tastes good!

Depends what you class as cheap or expensive!! A £7 bottle of red normally tastes nice!! Also depends who is buying, and if you are drinking to get drunk, or to enjoy!!!

I cant drink cheap red anymore, so I buy the box variety to get a decent wine but at a reasonable cost. Try Namaqua, it is a really good red.

Like everything, there is a middle way...and the mid priced ones are the best...nicer than the rubbish ones, but not so bad that they taste so much worse than the expensive ones.

generally pay as much as you can afford as pricier wines do have more depth. however you can get some decent wine in supermarkets for around 6 quid.

It all tastes the same after glass #2.

cheap.. because its not going to be good either way.

Buy some Carlo Rossi table wine in big jugs. Its surprisingly really good... and I normally hate wine.

There are alot of mid-priced wines on the market. South america has alot of nice wines at good prices. Penfolds (Australian are nice). Cheap red wine is asking for a headache. for $10-15 you can get decent wine. If you buy a case at a time you can usually get better prices.

To me, cost doesn't enter into it. It's what you like to drink. Only snobs drink something that tastes terrible just because it costs more.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

A few nights ago I had a $100 bottle of Leonetti with dinner and last night, I had an $8 bottle of Syrah. Both served their purpose well.

I think your question is off-base. Price has no bearing on quality. There are "cheap" wines that are very good for the money, and there are expensive wines that are a complete waste of money.

Bottom line: if you like it and can afford it, drink it! Wine is so subjective anyway. Just be adventurous and follow your own palate and take anything printed in the Wine Spectator or Robert Parker with a grain of salt.

good one

Depends what you mean by "cheap". Like, you can buy a GALLON of wine for $6 in any grocery store. But its gross.

I prefer Ecco or Santa Margherita. Under $20. Cheap, right?

But I drink reds.

Any expensive red wine I have ever had doesn't taste as good to me as a good $20 bottle. But I've only had maybe up to a $100 bottle.

I usually spend between £3 and £6 on a bottle of wine. I've tasted expensive stuff that's cr*p and cheap stuff that's lovely so it's not really about how much you spend but what you actually enjoy.
The only time I think it matters is when it's champagne, you can't beat the expensive stuff!

i buy the boxed wine .

The cheaper the better.
