Freezing alcohol?!

Question:

Freezing alcohol?

I heard that putting your Alcohol in the freezer can be dangerous and even poisonous. I do not believe this personally but I would like more input on this situation from others.

Answers:
Some alcohols actually benefit from being kept in the freezer but they just thicken slightly, they don't freeze.

I like to keep my vodka and limoncello (from my last trip to Sorrento) in the freezer. I've tried keeping my gin in there as well but I find the martinis it makes are less enjoyable that way.

I have never heard this. In fact, many liquors should be stored in the freezer to preserve flavor and keep them cool for mixed drinks (I.e. limoncello, vodka).

nonsense - I have done it for years and know plenty of people who do. It is recommended by liquor companies for certain types. Very traditional to do with vodka to give you a crisp clean taste.

If it was, I would be dead. It is the best way I know of to keep vodka.

No it's not dangerous at all, I keep vodka in the freezer constantly.

Most alcohol will not freeze, therefor, there is no chance of it exploding like a soda would.

Also, there is no toxic effect from freezing it...so, you're safe.
