Smoking in pubs?!

Question:

Smoking in pubs?

what is the official reason that pubs are not allowed to have separate enclosed smoking areas (UK)

Answers:

The smoking ban covers public places and the workplace so an enclosed smoking area in a pub would breach the law because working staff would have to enter to retrieve glasses and clean tables.
